Despite being his parting ways with Epic Records over allegations of sexual harassment (and an alleged cover-up) last May, L.A. Reid is back in business.Which is a bit confusing as to how exactly did L.A. Reid navigate through that situation during the height of the #MeToo movement. One of his peers Russell Simmons wasn’t so lucky and was reportedly in Bali for some time “getting outside the bubble” as he called it. Russell denies his allegations but his haven’t gone away like Reid’s apparently have.
On a lighter note, according to Variety, Reid has launched a new label called HitCo and has made Big Boi his first signing. Big Boi and Reid have stuck with each other through thick and thin so it’s only right that Big be the corner stone artist of his new label. The label will be distributed through EMPIRE, the independent company behind hits like D.R.A.M.’s “Broccoli” and Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s “All the Way Up.”
The first order of business for L.A. Reid and HitCo is promoting Big Boi’s “All Night” at radio. The song appeared in Apple’s viral “Animojo Yourself” commercial, so there’s a good chance you’re already familiar.
