Dame Dash Is Developing A TV Series About The Rise Of Roc-A-Fella Records

Today it’s been reported that Dame Dash is developing a television series about the rise of Roc-A-Fella records.

The record label was founded by Dame Dash, Jay Z, and Kareem “Biggs” Burke back the 90’s. The iconic music label spawned the careers of Jay Z, Kanye West, Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek and more. The previously tight knit trio of Dash, Jay and Biggs parted ways and sold the label after the release of what was supposed to be Jay Z’s last project The Black Album. What seemed like the perfect partnership ended pretty messy with the three not seeing eye to eye on many things regarding how business would be ran. The bulk of the beef was between Dash and Jay Z, the once “best friends,” turned into distant strangers and many have speculated for years what exactly went wrong. Jay Z has cryptically addressed the Roc-A-Fella break up on his come-back album Kingdom Come, on the track “Lost Ones,” rapping:

I heard motherfuckers saying they made Hov
Made Hov say, “OK so, make another Hov”
Niggaz wasn’t playing they day role
So we parted ways like Ben and J-Lo
I should’ve been did it but I been in a daze though
I put friends over business end of the day though
But when friends, business interests as they go
Ain’t nothing left to say though
I guess we forgot what we came fo’
Should’ve stayed in food and beverage
Too much flossing
Too much Sam Rothstein
I ain’t a bitch but I gotta divorce them
Hov have to get the shallow shit up off him
And I ain’t even want to be famous
Niggaz is brainless to unnecessarily go through these changes
And I ain’t even know how it came to this
Except that fame is
The worst drug known to man
It’s stronger than, heroin
When you could look in the mirror like, “There I am”
And still not see, what you’ve become
I know I’m guilty of it too but, not like them
You lost one

And Dash has spoke his peace on the break-up numerous times through media outlets, stating “he felt betrayed and used.” In 2013 the two we seen together for a mutual friends birthday, and things looked like they everything was put behind them. That didn’t last too long and as of right now their relationship is non-existent.

Today, Deadline it was reported  Dash and producer Lemuel Plummerare teaming up to develop a TV series based on the highs and lows of the Roc-A-Fella story. The show will allegedly include depictions of Dash’s complicated relationships with Rachel Roy and Aaliyah, and will also explain the real story behind his fallout with Jay. This should be good, obviously this will be from Dash’s point of view, wonder how Jay and his camp feel about this? Only time will tell, stay tuned for more as this interesting story unfolds.

Plummer has already taken to Instagram to celebrate the news. “I’m very excited and honored to tell such an EPIC story from a unique and different point of view. ‘Bout to be 🔥🔥. Let’s get it,” he wrote. Check out his Instagram post below.
