After news broke earlier today that Steve Ballmer had obtained the LA Clippers for a hefty $2 Billion from Shelly Sterling, it seems former owner Donald Sterling isn’t ready to go down without a fight. According to CNN, Sterling is suing the NBA for $1 Billion for its decision to ban him for life and forcing him to sell his franchise.
Sterling filed the lawsuit Friday afternoon, and claims the NBA’s $2.5 Million fine against him was baseless and a violation of antitrust laws. Sterling’s camp in the lawsuit, states that the move to terminate him “is unconstitutional, in breach of contract, in restraint of trade, in breach of fiduciary duties and … is malicious and oppressive.” The 80 Year Old’s mental state has also been in question recently, and raises the question on how much control he’d even have, if he managed to again obtain the team.
