After breaking onto the music scene 2017 thanks to her Preditah-produced “On My Mind” and features on Drake’s More Life, Jorja Smith kicks off 2018 with her new single, “Let Me Down.” The stripped down ballad shows off the Walsall-born singer showcasing her stunning vocals while being joined by fellow Brit Stormzy, who’s also basking brightly in the limelight right now.
“The version that you’ve got now that’s the demo version because I hate re-recording,” Jorja Smith told Beats 1’s Julie Adenuga during a recent interview. “[Stormzy] hit me up after ‘Blue Lights’ and then I was in the studio with Ed and he came through to the session, but I had already wrote the beginning of it and then we just left verse two. Stormzy was so late. But it was cool because his verse made up for it and he is sick, it just made sense and it worked.”
