It’s been nearly 18 years since what the media famously pegged as “nipple gate,” at the 2004 halftime show. Justin Timberlake is set to be front and center again in just a matter of weeks, and ahead of his performance, JT sat with Zane Lowe for Beats 1 to reflect on that infamous mishap with Janet Jackson.

“I had my wires crossed and it’s just something that you have to look back on and go like, ‘OK, well, you know, you can’t change what’s happened, but you can move forward and learn from it.’” Timberlake says he and Janet resolved issues behind the scenes, and he insists nothing like this will happen at this year’s show. “It’s just one of those things were you go like, yeah, what do you want me to say? We’re not going to do that again.”

JT also talks about linking up with Pharrell for the first time since 2002’s Justified. The full interview will air Thursday at 10 am PT on Beats 1. Watch the preview segments below.
