Since the release of the “i” Apple product (iPhone, iPod, iPad), companies have been always looking to create an “iXXX Killer” Samsung had a iPhone killer, Microsoft had a iPod killer and now Amazon has a iPad killer. But this may actually be true, not an apple fanboy.

Amazon will release the Kindle Fire HDX 7″ & 8.9″ tablet on October 18. Now, before you go and critique it physically pay attention to the internals:

Kindle Fire HDX 7″ & 8.9″

  • 1920 x 1200, 323 ppi & 100% sRGB (7″ HDX model)  – 2560 x 1600, 339 ppi & 100% sRGB (8.9″ HDX model) iPad 2048 x 1536, 264 ppi, Color Space probably Apple RGB
  • 2.2Ghz quad-core processor and 2GB of Ram (both 7″ & 8.9″ HDX models) (Adreno 330 GPU in 8.9″ HDX) | iPad 1.4 Dual Core A6x with quad-core graphics and 1GB of Ram
  • All-New Fire OS “Mojito” with new features such as The “Mayday” Button.  | Apple has also released their new iOS 7 software, with mixed reviews

There are a lot more features that seem to trump Apple’s iPad tablet. Although the “Mojito” UI may look bland and boring, it is very user friendly and functional. The iOS system has always been a user friendly and simple software. But with the negative feedback from iOS 7 adopters this may deter users from picking up a Apple device.

The biggest selling point in my opinion is the price. The 7″ HDX starts at $229 & the 8.9 HDX starts at $379. This combined with the recognizable performance improvements over the iPad will make your next purchase that much simpler. Apple cultists  users will try and convince you that the iPad is still better but facts do not lie. Even the beautiful Retina technology has been out shined in a cheaper and faster alternative. The 7″ HDX is also the fastest tablet in it’s class so the iPad Mini has also been targeted.
