Jack White has shared the studio version of “Lazaretto”. Listen to it below. He’s also revealed the tracklist for his new album. Check that out below. And Third Man has released official video from the Record Store Day recording/release. Watch that below as well.
True to his word, Jack White has just released the “World’s Fastest Released Record”. As White’s Third Man Records reports, the first batch of 7″ pressings of “Lazaretto” arrived in fans’ hands 3 hours, 55 minutes and 21 seconds after being recorded in front of a small crowd at Third Man’s studio in Nashville on Record Store Day. Below, check out a recap video from Edmonton, Alberta radio station Sonic 102.9 of the speedy achievement that also includes the song’s audio, via Stereogum. (The music kicks in around the 7:20 mark.)
As Rolling Stone reports, White took the stage at Third Man’s Blue Room just after 10 a.m. to perform a live version of the title track from his forthcoming album Lazaretto, which is out June 10, along with a cover of Elvis Presley’s “Power of My Love,” for the B-side. As soon as the performance wrapped up, the masters were rushed off to be pressed into 45s, complete with sleeves printed from pictures taken at the Blue Room gig that morning. White then ferried the direct-to-acetate records back to Third Man to sell to customers.
