Looks like we all can collectively let that sigh of relief out, Lil Wayne dropped a new track tonight titled “Grateful,” exclusively on TIDAL. Earlier this week Weezy let off some cryptic tweets alluding to his retirement, but from the lyrics in “Grateful” it just meant he was onto a “New Chapter,” of his career moving on from Cash Money, rapping “No more CMB, excuse my French but you know what you can muaa / Excuse my Spanish but it’s no mas, I’ve been working hard for no prize but I’m still grateful though I show pride.” The track features Gudda Gudda and is produced by StreetRunner and Rugah Rah.

On the song, Wayne calls out Birdman by name rapping;

 He also says he’s officially finished with Cash Money – “They can’t put no more Weezy Baby out, that’s that Cash Money vasectomy.”

This track lets us no a reconciliation between Wayne and the only label he’s ever called home aren’t happening. After saying “Fuck Cash money,” on stage at Drake’s “Summer Sixteen” show a few weeks back, it’s safe to say when Wayne said he was done he was referring to trying to mend things over with his long time father figure Birdman. The past year has been a rocky one to say the least, remember when someone from Birdman’s camp threw a drink at Wayne in club Liv in Miami, or when Wayne’s tour bus was shot up? Things just don’t look good. Hopefully some how some way things can be worked out, guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Listen to “Grateful” below.
