Elle Magazine Backlash

Elle released its special ‘Women In Television’ for the February issue this month and caused quite a bit of controversy. There are four different covers each featuring a different actress.  The other issues which included the actresses Zooey Deschanel, Amy Poehler, and Allison Williams, covers were all full bodied with vibrant colors, unlike Mindy Kaling’s cover photo. Her photo was only a head shot that was in a dull black and white. Readers and fans quickly noticed that one of these covers were not like the others and couldn’t help but to wonder as to why. Many were outraged and considered it to be racist because of all the covers, the one with the woman of color lacked color. Although her fans may have had a problem with her cover, the funny girl refused to let the media and negative critics rain on her parade. “I was, for the first time in my career, on the cover of a fashion magazine, which is such an awesome, nice thing,” she said on the “Late Show with David Letterman” Friday. “It felt great!” She even took to her twitter to stand up for Elle Magazine, “I love my @ELLEmagazine cover,” she tweeted Tuesday. “It made me feel glamorous & cool. And if anyone wants to see more of my body, go on thirteen dates with me.”
Fear the Spear!

Looks like the Spear is putting some serious fear in its opponents. The Bowl Championship Series went out with a bang, with one of the best championship games in its 16-year history. Florida State won its first national championship since the 1999 against Auburn with a close 34-31. The Florida State Seminoles has defeated any and every team that has stood in their way this season and it doesn’t look they’ll be backing down any time soon. Sports critics even believe that they’ll be taking yet another NCAA championship this year, especially because of their force to be reckoned with of a quarterback Jameis Winston. “One team that doesn’t have to worry about that is Florida State with Jameis Winston, the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner. Winston, favored to win the Heisman in 2014 as well, would have a chance to go No. 1 overall in this spring’s NFL draft, but he’s not eligible. So, the Seminoles are 4-1 favorites at Bovada to win the NCAA championship again next year, the first year featuring a four-team college football playoff”, reported New England Sports Network on Thur Jan 9th.

This week festival goers finally got to see the lineup for Coachella 2014. Coachella stayed true to fans by continuing to have the most diverse and hottest lineups. Some of the most anticipated acts include Outkast, Muse, Lorde, Arcade Fire, Pharrell, Lana Del Rey, and many more. And if you’re thinking of heading over to purchase a set of tickets now, I must warn you that you are a day late and a dollar short.  In a little under three hours after the line ups were posted, the flood gates were opened for ticket purchases and sold out. Which is expected whenever it comes to this mega music festival. Hope you got your hands on a ticket already, because the resell values are almost double now.
People’s Choice Awards

The gorgeous Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs served as the masters of ceremonies and kept the crowd in well entertained on their own. ‘Gravity’ was the movie no one could beat, with ‘Iron Man 3’ trailing behind. Meanwhile Justin Timberlake continued his winning streak, taking home three awards. And Queen Latifah surprisingly beat out Arsenio Hall for new Talk show host. Looks like the people have spoken, and if one thing is clear, it’s that you can’t help but to be pulled into ‘Gravity’. Now lets see if this holds true for the Golden Globes and the most coveted  of awards, the Oscars.
