The power of the internet is undefeated, last month a Tumblr-inspired Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o heist film ideation caused Twitter to go into a frenzy.
The idea caught the attention of Rihanna and Lupita, as well as the ladies who are now slated to create the film, Queen Sugar‘s Ava DuVernay and Insecure‘s Issa Rae.

Entertainment Weekly reports that an “aggressive” bidding war went on over the yet-to-be-titled film at Cannes Film Festival and Netflix won.
Ava posted a celebratory tweet announcing the news.

The whole idea for this movie kicked off when a Twitter user retweeted a picture of Rihanna and Lupita sitting next to each other at Miu Miu’s Paris Fashion Week show with a caption describing the pair as partners in crime, stealthily scamming rich white men.
