A sexual assault case against ASAP Bari has been declined, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office announced the decision Friday, stating they dismissed the rape case because Bari’s alleged victim refused to proceed with the investigation.
Bari—born Jabari Shelton the VLONE founder—was accused of rape in November 2017, about four months after he was allegedly filmed sexually assaulting a woman in a London hotel room. The ASAP Mob member denied the allegations shortly after the disturbing footage surfaced.
“A misleading video clip featuring adult content and activity has been released to the public without my knowledge or consent,” he said in the statement. “Comments about myself or anyone being detained or arrested are false. We have resolved this issue amicably among all parties as adults. We were friends before this and will remain friends afterwards. Being raised by strong women who taught me to respect everyone, I’m disappointed in the situation as well as myself and will reflect on the situation appropriately.”
In May of this year, Bari was arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport on two counts of sexual assault. The London Metropolitan Police confirmed the charges stemmed from the July 10, 2017 incident at a Shoreditch hotel. Bari was released on bail shortly after his arrest.
