Popular podcaster Taxstone, real name Daryl Campbell is the host of the Tax Season podcast, has been arrested for “alleged involvement” in last year’s Irving Plaza shooting. Law enforcement officials said Taxstone was arrested by U.S. Marshals and the New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force on Monday morning in Brooklyn without incident, NBC New York reported.
- Taxstone, was reportedly wanted on a federal warrant charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Additionally, Taxstone was wanted by the New York Police Department in connection with the 2016 Irving Plaza shooting that left Troy Ave and many others injured and Troys bodyguard Ronald McPhatter dead.
The shooting took place inside a green room at the 1,025-capacity venue ahead of a scheduled T.I. performance last May:
“The video does not show everything nor explain what happened in the VIP room before Troy came running out, as a victim, after he was shot,” an attorney for Troy Ave, who was reportedly cleared of a murder charge after being indicted on 5 other felonies, told TMZ in June.
In September, concert attendees sued Live Nation and Irving Plaza for allegedly causing them “serious physical injuries and mental anguish.” The plaintiffs, TMZ reported at the time, echoed Troy Ave’s criticisms and said that inadequate security measures were to blame for the incident. The attendees added that the ensuing chaos caused them to be trampled as fellow concertgoers rushed to the exits.
