With the news of the Meek Mill sentencing to prison after violating probation, many have been outraged, feeling Meek was unjustly treated. Yesterday a rally was held outside the Criminal Justice Center in Philadelphia to protest the ruling and showcase how important Meek is to the community.
Meek’s label boss/mentor Rick Ross was front and center along with Meek’s mother, 76er’s basketball legend Dr. J peacefully protesting. They protested the punishment calling it “excessive” and “cold.” The hall of famer also questioned the judge’s motives in the case, wondering why she decided against the recommendations of her own D.A.’s office. Many other celebrities showed their support for Meek as well, ranging from Collin Kaepernick, to music industry heavyweights like Jay-Z and Steve Stoute.
Check out a recap of the rally after the jump and sign the petition for his release below.

Sadly there are Black folks going through the same radicalized injustice(s) within the justice system that Meek Mill has experienced for over a decade EVERY SINGLE DAY. This requires more than just gradual reform in laws—It requires a swift overhaul. pic.twitter.com/Mt13BwnIvJ
