Usher might finally get the recognition he’s been looking for in Hollywood for his upcoming role in the biopic ‘Hands of Stone.’
The film chronicles the life of Sugar Ray Leonard’s greatest foe, Panamanian boxing great Roberto Duran who was nicknamed the man with “Manos de Piedra” (“Hands of Stone”) for his hard death-threatening punches and 70 knock outs. Duran will be played by Edgar Ramirez and acting legend Robert De Niro will portray Duran’s boxing coach Ray Arcel.
The biopic is written and directed by Jonathan Jakubowicz, and yes the film will include the “Brawl in Montreal,” the first fight between Durán and Leonard, and the “no mas” fight, which took place in New Orleans. In the eighth round of that fight, Duran inexplicably quit, saying in Spanish “no mas.” They fought one more time, and Leonard won again. The film hits theaters August 2016.
