Paired with amazing illustration by Molly Crabapple, Jay Z, narrates why the long standing war on drugs is an epic fail. He breaks down how it is ultimately intertwined with racism, and touches on the Nixon administration and the Rockefeller drug laws. Hov singles out the flawed systems and presents further evidence of what was jailing black people, which in turn is now making white people richer. We learn how “African-Americans can make up around 13 percent of the United States population — yet 31 percent of those are arrested for drug law violations, even though they use and sell drugs at the same rate as whites.”
