The much hyped TIDAL press conference just wrapped, and left plenty to be desired. As most viewers looked on hoping for new music to be accompanied with the announcement, we witnessed music superstars like Madonna, Daft Punk, Kanye West, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Usher, and Rihanna all come together to sign a declaration and stand by the streaming service.

What we learned:

Tidal offers lossless CD-quality audio and video. There will be no free, ad-supported plan; monthly subscriptions cost $19.95 for high quality streaming and $9.95 for standard quality. The service has deals with all of the major record labels. It also offers curated playlists and editorial. And the promo is already moving. Rihanna’s new single “Bitch Better Have My Money” is available now on Tidal, but not on Spotify. All the artists in attendance are listed as co owners. According to Billboard, each artist was offered a 3% stake in the company in order to secure exclusives.
