TIME Magazine’s Most Influential People Issue, isn’t a cover Beyoncé should be gracing. At least, that’s according to Bill O’ Reilly, who has gone on record in the past to express that he feels Beyoncé is a horrible influence on young women with her raunchy music videos, and doesn’t feel she uses her power to speak out in a positive way as often as she should.
“She knows that young girls getting pregnant in the African-American community now is about 70% out of wedlock. She knows and doesn’t seem to care.”
In my opinion, I wouldn’t go as far as to say she doesn’t care, Bill. I think Beyoncé is one of the most powerful black celebrities that we have, and she leads by example with a seemingly healthy marriage. Also, the fact that she had a child after getting married to a man she’d been with for almost 10 years should be example enough. I don’t know what he wants her to be doing. Visiting schools? Plan B commercials? While I agree that she could generate interest in the problem if she shed light on it, I don’t think she should be held accountable for these kinds of issues.
