FX has given a series order to Donald Glover for his new comedy Atlanta. The show, written by Glover, will revolve around two cousins trying to make it on Atlanta’s rap scene. FX reportedly ordered 10 episodes of the half hour series, and it will premiere sometime early next year.
Glover, (or Childish Gambino as we call him around here,) is Executive Producing the show along with Paul Simms for FX Prods. and Dianne McGunigle of MGMT Entertainment. It is set to star Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Lee Stanfield, and Zazie Beetz.
“ ‘Atlanta’ draws on Donald’s considerable talents as a musician, actor and writer to give us something unique,” said Nick Grad, president of original programming for FX and FX Prods. “The story is made all the more powerful by the great cast and the contributions of Donald’s fellow executive producer Paul Simms and director Hiro Murai. We can’t wait to for the debut of ‘Atlanta’ next year.”
