Get your gold rings ready. Sonic The Hedgehog is making its way to theaters soon. Sony Pictures and 22 Jump Street producer Neil Moritz are adapting the popular video game series, which has been around for the better part of two decades.

According to Time, the movie will be a combination of live action and computer animation. We can expect Sonic’s nemesis Dr. Eggman to be written into the film, among other characters that have yet to be announced. Sony Puctures production president Hannah Minghella says:

“We’re looking to capture everything that generations of fans know and love about Sonic while also growing his audience wider than ever before.”

Sonic is a billon dollar franchise that has sold more than 140 Million games since debuting over two decades ago. It’ll be interesting to see how a live action film keeps the legacy alive. I wonder how Charles Hamilton feels about this.
