After Angie Martinez unexpectedly announced she was leaving Hot 97 yesterday, many began to wonder what her next move would be. This morning, we’ve found out the
speculation that Angie was moving to Power 105.1 is indeed true.

Power 105.1, a long time rival of the Hot 97 team, made the word official on their website.

It’s official that Angie Martinez will now join the Power 105.1 family for the afternoon drive weekdays 2-6pm.

The Voice of New York will also be middays in Miami on 103.5’s The Beat.

Angie is excited to join her new family, and expressed her appreciation, saying:

“I want to thank, Thea Mitchem, Tom Poleman and Doc Wynter for this incredible opportunity, I’m excited to join Power 105.1 in New York and The Beat in Miami and expand my brand even further in the coming months.”

The SVP of Programming, Thea Mitchem added:

“Angie is the Queen of New York City radio – she is an incredible talent who continues to blaze trails and we are excited to have her join the team at Power 105.1 and The Beat in Miami,” said Thea Mitchem, Senior Vice President of Programming – Major Markets, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment.

“Angie has a long, successful history and we look forward to expanding her distinctive style and compelling content to more of our listeners.”

Her new team seems to already be embracing Ang, with DJ Envy sharing their revised line up on his Instagram account. The question remains. How will Hot 97 fill that void, and what really caused her to leave?
